The G-rated Review: It's raining (animated) cats and dogs. Mostly cats Read more: http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/music/i-wanna-be-sedated-and-turned-into-a-woman/story-e6frfn09-1226351019775#ixzz1uNVRPWA5

WELCOME to a family friendly review of newly released animation blockbusters TinTin and Puss In Boots.

Let's start with Puss In Boots. Because it's heaps better.

Finally. Someone found a way to make cats cool. I loved Shrek and while I've probably outgrown the whole DreamWorks Animation scene, Puss In Boots is 90 minutes of pure gold(en eggs).

Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek are a match made in Kitty Heaven, while Zach Galifianakis puts in the role of this life. As a talking egg.

I had high hopes of Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson's blockbuster TinTin collaboration. But to be honest I was disappointed and quite frankly bored by The Secret of The Unicorn. Great snakes it was lame.

I have a soft spot for TinTin because we're both pale, red-headed journalists who talk to their dogs. But I haven't worn knickerbockers to work since 2011 and wooden ship conspiracies aren't my thing.

To be fair, I marvelled at the spectacular, unprecedented polish of this film. It's a visual treat that really takes hold in the Blu-Ray format.

Daniel Craig was a superb villain, and you're left wanting more from Thompson and Thompson's Nick Frost/Simon Pegg duo. But it's motion capture genius Andy Serkis who - yet again (surprise!) - steals the show as bumbling drunk Captain Haddock. A man who's often overlooked for plaudits, there's seemingly nothing he can't do.
