
The couple said in a statement, "We deplore this weak and unjust decision. After the further unprecedented posturing of the CPS [Crown Prosecution Service] we will respond later today after our return from the police station."
Rebekah Brooks is facing three charges over the matter, the principal legal adviser to the director of public prosecutions, Alison Levitt, said. They include concealing and removing material, and concealing documents and electronic equipment in July 2011.
Four other people also were set to be charged over the matter, Levitt said, adding a seventh suspect will not face charges.
